A few go by light aircraft, for there is a landing strip not far from the camp, but most go by four-wheel drive, either in their own vehicles or in one of those belonging to local Bush Guides.
The Laura sandstone area contains the most extensive and comprehensive collection of Aboriginal rock art in Queensland, and some of the most important art in Australia by any definition. The Laura sandstones are a striking geological feature, kilometer after kilometer of flat-topped escarpments, their golden rock faces pitted with hundreds of shallow caves which provided excellent shelter for the early inhabitants of this vast country.
