This little book does not contain any projects. It just teaches you to make your own thread for hand sewing.
Commercial leather sewing thread is of a standard thickness, and may not be appropriate for every hand sewing job you have. Making your own thread for hand sewing leather is a dying art. Most people choose to purchase commercial thread and put up with it's limitations. If you can make your own waxed thread, it gives you the freedom to customize your work.

There were always cats as part of the Edwards household. Most were strays that either wandered in to their farm at Kuranda, or into the shop in Cairns. There were always subjects for Ron to sketch. These five images are coloured pen and wash, with watercolour.

Ron Edwards spent a lot of time in the Torres Straits researching for many of his books on Torres Strait Island culture. Always with sketch pad and pen or water colours in hand, spare time was spent sketching and painting the unique community and environment of the Far North. These images are from his children's book Unexpected Holiday, which is set in the Torres Strait. Ron's superb handling of the medium of water colour painting is obvious in these lovely images, as is his talent at putting words to the scenes, with short poems.

Our unique koala is an iconic emblem of Australia. Many of us are lucky enough to have them in our back yard. But their numbers are threatened, by disease, development and predators - mainly domestic dogs - which is?? a concern to those of us who care about our native wildlife. We are lucky enough to have them on our own property and it is always a thrill when you capture a glimpse of one above you as you walk through the paddocks.

The Anzacs are Australian legends, and the tradition of the Light Horsemen is still very much alive across the country. This set of cards pays homage to the brave men and their mounts, who rode into battle in WW1. Great losses were suffered, and very few horses returned to their country of origin.

The plaited kangaroo stockwhip is a prized posession amongst whipmakers and Australian stockmen.
A top quality whip takes a long time to make, and because of this it can be expensive. With this book you should be able to make your own kangaroo stockwhip for a fraction of the cost of a purchased one made by a good whipmaker.
If you have never made a whip before, you may be better off starting with Whipmaking Book One. The kangaroo stockwhip is a complicated item, because the strands you plait are finer than cowhide whips, and these are plaited over a four plait whip, so it is two whips in one.
